Summary

The domestic banks are making lower interest rates for poor people and bigger interest rates for rich people. It could be harmful to poor people. And bankers think it is right according to market principles and covering the costs of attracting cash-laden depositors. They should think who helped them when they suffered from the 1997-98 financial crisis. It was a lot of working-class people. The rich-become-richer, poor-become-poorer banking practices can make lots of bad situations. That is why nationwide banks need to try their business for lower-income working-class customers by reinvigorating micro-financing systems, the government should try to check discriminatory practices, and the regulators also need to provide a lot of information for their customers. It can bring about the rehabilitation of working families' finances.

Reaction

In Korea, poor and normal people cannot make big money well even though we save money a lot in the bank. Our interest rates are too low and our salaries are always similar. It is difficult to get big money suddenly, so poor people are always poor and rich people are always rich. Because of these problems, some people try to buy land and sometimes, they think they can get big money by buying interest in a company. However, it cannot also solve our serious situations and cannot be a good way for them. In addition, in Korea the costs of renting and buying a house are too high. Even though poor or normal people try to save money to buy a house, it takes too much time. On the other hand, rich people don’t care about that. They can get a lot of money easily and can buy a house easily with high interest rates. With problems like these, the rich-become-richer, poor-become-poorer banking practices can come about the number of serious accidents, such as borrowing money from loan sharks, human trafficking, and suicide. I really agree with author’s suggestions that banks need to try orienting their business toward lower-income working-class customers by reinvigorating micro-financing systems, and the government should try to check discriminatory practices. If the banks and government don’t try ways like these, our economy will be going down more and more and will have many problems. I hope they can care more about these things for their citizens who always sweat at their job and work hard to walk a path strewn with roses.

Summary

According to this article, there will be era of 1 million jobless soon in Korea. People suffering from job insecurity could reach 10 million including virtual jobless and non-regular workers. Also, this situation and Korea’s economy will continually go bad. Just to extend the mandatory period into lasting is not a good way, according to Japan, because Japanese already know it will be able to make industrial competitiveness and the jobless rate will pulled down and, they don't try like that. In addition, it is also not a good way that government's encouragement to cut starting salaries for new entrants because it could be just passing the buck to younger generations. To redesign the nation's economic and social system by shifting emphasis from manufacturing and exports to service and domestic demand-based industries, such as in education, medical and welfare areas can be a good choice. However, Korea will be hard getting out of the employment crisis.

Reaction

Korean people are suffering about getting a job. Even though they graduated from a great university and studied a lot, it is still difficult because a lot of people are in similar situation and background. For instance, I also came to the USA to get a good job after finishing study, but many Koreans already studied like me and many people are better than me. That's why it is difficult to get a good job among the Korean who studied abroad. Nevertheless, though economic exigency has obliged the government to act, our government doesn't give us a good way. The government has gradually become from the people. On the contrary, they try to cut starting salaries for new entrants. Can it be a good choice? I think it can't be. There is no a way to get a job. Therefore, many Korean people, after finishing study of their university study more in graduate school or abroad. However, my friends who finished studying abroad have often told me that it is still hard to get a job, because interviewers and honor of company always want other skills, such as other language skills and other certificates of qualification, so they still failed to get a job. Our government should give us a certain way for them and at least to improve our economy.

Summary

According to this article, a lot of Korean students want to study English abroad . It became the largest foreign group in the united state. Also, the wild-geese fathers and education costs could be a big problem. Even though they are just median-income parents, they try sending their children to America by force because they want their children can learn creative learning in foreign colleges. They vaguely think if their children study abroad, everything is going to be alright. However, Korean people need to reduce their ambition and to change their education system. Studying abroad is not a good solution for our education system and our knowledge power. Korea should be stopped sending good students to improve knowledge power.

Reaction

I chose this article because it shows our country's education problems and I'm also in this situation. To tell the truth, it is a trend that studying abroad in Korea. Many students want to study abroad even though they are not rich people. In the interview that they take to get a good job, the interviewer will exactly ask whether or not they studied abroad. It became a certain necessary condition to get a good job in Korea. They think about it very simply and everything is going to be fine if they go to study abroad, but it could be a big problem in Korea. At first, they need the number of money to study abroad. If some parents are not rich, they could make a lot of debts to send their children to abroad. Nevertheless, their children can fail their studying easily because studying abroad is too hard and lonely. Also, nobody care and meddle them. They just do everything themselves. It means they have a lot of free time and should control everything themselves. However, it is really difficult to do it alone except any help. For these reasons, many students fail to study abroad. I also came to America to study English. Before I came here, in fact, I was really ready to be alone for my work, but studying abroad was totally different to my prediction. I thought that if I go to America, I will be able to concentrate on my work very well. However, it didn't work as well. I always felt lonely and missed everything about my country and family. It is not a tiny problem for foreign students. In addition, sometimes, I couldn't control my mind well because there was not anything that I can rely on abroad. Many foreign students could feel like me. In consequence, they should think more about studying abroad whether or not it is really necessary for them before deciding to go to abroad. It is a wrong way that they just want to study abroad except a great purpose because most students and their friends do that. I'm also studying abroad, but I have a certain purpose and dream. It is to be a great teacher in the future. That's why I study here even though I feel lonely and hard very much. In closing, Some people who can't study abroad can simply envy the people who study abroad, but there are not only good things to study abroad. I hope many students choose their way well after careful consideration for long time and our education system would change for the better.

Summary

According to this article, the graduating college seniors feel really scared because of a low percentage of employment, a long-term slump and jobless growth. The government's various stop-gap employment programs are good for a while, but they could suffer more suffered since it can keep them in an employment limbo for a long time. Nonetheless, President Lee Myung-bak just wonders why all high school graduates want to enter colleges and large enterprises. In contrast, the Lee administration's education policy still gives preference to a high scholarship person and giant enterprises. Lee really needs to try very hard to decrease the soaring youth unemployment rate for social economy.

Reaction

In the first place, it is really a big problem in Korea. Many of the my friends are suffering from this problem. At the same time, due to low percentage of employment and jobless growth, in particularly many graduating college seniors have chosen to enter a graduate school and remain as a poor person. President Lee just thinks about it too easily and doesn't give us any solutions. For these reasons, our society's high scholarship people are increasing. They just want to study more since they can't get a good job. Furthermore, even for people who have a high scholarship, it is difficult to get a good job because the competition is too high. Thereby, many of them want to study English in other countries since it could be a basic skill to get a good job. I also came to the United States to study and get a good job, though, there are a lot of people who have high English skill in Korea. In brief, nobody can get a job easily. Undoubtedly, our society's economy is going down and many people are also losing their job. Many people have no idea about it and don't expect for the Lee's government, but a bad economy is not always bad. Eventually it will be able to be changed again to a good way. In conclusion, all people have to do their best for their dream and don't have to lose their hope.

Summary

According to this article, the Big Mac has become very popular as a real pop culture item since it was first introduced in 1967 by Jim Delligatti, who is a McDonald's owner. Some Big mac addicts opened a Big Mac Museum Restaurant and made "Big Mac-Aholics" group on the Web site Facebook. The sandwich is really sold well each year in the U.S. and a professor of nutrition said if sometimes people eat this sandwich, it is not bad for health. We can love to eat fast food, but it could be a good thing or bad thing.

Reaction

I chose this article because I'm interested in McDonald's. In my opinion, American people really love fast food. They generally tend to overvalue it. I think it is just fast food. People can enjoy eating those, but building a museum restaurant and a cake-like tower of McDonald's hamburgers for their party seem to overact for me. Actually, fast food is not good for health. Also, I don't really like to eat fast food, so I still suffer from choosing food in the student center at every lunch time because there is just a lot of fast food. I wondered and pitied why fast food is American's favorite food. There is a lot of healthy food and various food in the world. They need to know and taste it. Fast food could be a good way when we don't have enough time to eat but I think it should be a rare case for their health. When I first came to the U.S, I was really surprised that Americans could eat fast food three times a day. I hope they reduce their eating fast food and they can find interest in eating other food and cooking other cuisines.
